Trust and custodial services

Bank of America, NA provides comprehensive institutional trust, custody and payment services to retirement plans. Bank of America, NA is responsible for the safekeeping of plan assets for the exclusive benefit of participants and their beneficiaries. They will fulfill different roles based on the nature of our partnership with you:
  • A non-discretionary, directed trustee for your pension plan
  • A co-fiduciary for investment management, managing plan assets consistently with the duties and standards established under ERISA.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch provides accurate ERISA accounting/reporting, trust, custody and pension payment services that when combined with our investment solutions deliver a costeffective offering for your Plan. Our systems offer plan sponsors access to portfolio information, as well as one consolidated financial statement.

Your account will be assigned a dedicated trust team headed by experienced trust officers. They work in conjunction with a team of trust administrators, customer accounting and cashiering support staff.

As trustee and custodian, we will:

  • Collect and remit all income payments on payable date
  • Accept directions from investment managers for proxy voting or corporate actions
  • Provide consolidated, monthly, ERISA-compliant statements and an annual ERISA-compliant certified statement
  • Provide ERISA 5500 information and Revalued Cost Statement to aid the plan sponsor and actuary in completion of IRS Form 5500
  • Provide an annual Service Auditors' Report (SAS 70) from an independent auditor, evaluating trust accounting and processing procedures
  • Offer online access to daily activity and monthly/annual statements.
