The Director David Fincher is now one of my all time favorites. Check out his resume: Alien3, Se7en, The Game, Being John Malcovich and Fight Club all among my favorites. They filmed with Nicole Kidman for a three weeks until she fractured a bone in her lower leg and had to stay off the injury. They couldn''t wait for her to heal so she was replaced with Jodie Foster who jumped right without a rehearsal. I''m a huge fun of Jodie Foster and a big fan of Forest Whitaker. I also predict big things for the girl who played Jodie Foster''s daughter, Kristie Stewart. 10 years from now we''ll be saying this movie launched her career. I recorded the TV Show "Behind the Scenes" for Panic Room and found out that they used 3D CAD-like Software to animate the whole movie as a way of story-boarding the movie. Camera work doesn''t get any better than this! The camera goes places that are physically impossible. If you read enough reviews, you’ll realize the film is deeply flawed, so to enjoy the movie, avoid the reviews and just go see it and don’t think to hard. Just enjoy. |

This movie is so brilliant in a way that is difficult to explain. It's a movie about writing a screen-play for a book (The Orchid Thief) based on a New York Times magazine article about a guy who steals orchids. Charlie Kaufman wrote this movie about himself writing the very movie we're watching. I've seen this before in the comic books Peep Show and Yummy Fur which at times was a comic about drawing the comic. |

I’m not into vampire movies but I had to see this one for two reasons: #1 Wesly Snipes (nuf sed) #2 Blade is a Marvel Comics character. I love to see movies based on comics like X-Men, The Mask, The Crow and Akira come to mind. I’m looking forward to upcoming superhero movies like Spiderman, Hulk, Fantastic Four and Daredevil. Spiderman has been done before with made for TV movies, but the special effects have always been cheesy. Not until movies started perfecting computer graphic effects did it actually become possible to do super-hero movies right. I never saw the first movie Blade. I did rent it on DVD when DVD players first became available on PCs but I couldn’t get it to work. I guess my PC was too slow or something. At times Blade II looked like a video game. At times it looked like I was watching Virtua Fighter 3 or Dead or Alive 3. Blade was definitely computer animated at times. The makeup and special effects were amazing. It had kind of a cool story to it – imagine vampires trying to alter their DNA so light, silver and garlic won’t harm them. These are scientifically advanced vampires using technology to further their race. Neato. This movie is non-stop action. But unlike a good John Woo and/or Jackie Chan movie, these actors are not as skilled in choreographing good fights, so they resort to tight-shots which are blurred not to mention hard on the eyes. |

A movie about terrorists. How timely. I was curious to see how the 54 year old Arnold Schwarzenegger is holding up. I'm wondering if the started filming before or after 9/11. I hate it when they show people out-running a fireball explosion. They make it appear like igniting gas moves in slow motion. In reality, it would happen instanly. Not only was that unbelieveable, but this motorcycle was blown to bits and yet its two riders were just fine. It did have a nice twist at the end I didn't see coming. |

| E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial: The 20th Anniversary |

I've seen E.T. 6 times. Mainly because I used it as an "in between" movie when I used to skip from theater to theater. I remember when it first came out, we had guests over for that holiday weekend and I suggested we go see E.T. but my friend's reply was "I don't want to go see that movie. It's for kids". So we went to see the other Spielberg move that came out the week before called Poltergeist. That was pretty good, but I was still disappointed. I remember leaving the theater after seeing it the first time the following week with my friend Barbara and her exact words were "That was the best movie I ever saw. I want to see it again!" So the next week she calls me up to go see a movie and I suggest E.T. and she replies "But we just saw that last week!" I reminded her of what she said last week but that only made her mad, so I went to see E.T. without her. This Anniversary version was interesting. The "good bye" scene was reworked quite a bit and the part where Gertie kisses E.T. goodbye did not look as good as the original. Extra scenes were added like a new scene where the Mom tracks down Gertie and Michael tricker-treating. Once again, Drew steals the scene. Old scenes were modified, especially in the beginning when E.T. gets pursued thru the woods and is left behind. E.T. is done digitally in several scenes where they need more dynamic movement and facial expressions. Instead of running thru the forest, he now hops. I read that Drew Barrymore had her godfather Spielberg digitally replaces guns with walkie-talkies in the final scenes. In the original, the BMX stunt double for Elliot had massive leg muscles so I was looking for that and they actually made his legs puny so it's a bit more believable. Did they improve on perfection? Some scenes got better, some got worse, so it's still a 10. |

Jennifer Aniston's best movie by far! Jake Gyllenhaal (October Sky) was amazing as a quiet discount store clerk who hates life. This film
is deep and complex. Jennifer is unsatisified with her marriage when she meets Jake. They immediately "get" each other and suddenly have an
affair. Jennifer just wants to do the right thing which causes her constant conflict between being loyal to her husband or running away and
starting her life over. John C. Reilly is great as the husband who tries his best to keep his wife happy. Thru some miracle, everything
works out for Jennifer in the end, but in a bizarre twist. |

If it's a CG Movie, I'll see it. Ice Age not only had great Computer Graphics, but it made me laugh quite a bit and even cry a little at the end. Denis Leary and Jack Black do the voices for two of the characters. The squirrel in the poster/previews who tries to bury his acorn in the ice and ends up causing a glacier to splinter, is an ongoing joke throughout the movie. He has nothing to do with the actual movie but it is still hilarious to watch as this little acorn-obsessed guy tries and tries to bury this acorn and keeps failing. He and his acorn are flash-frozen in ice for thousands of years and later thaw out and he’s still trying to bury it except this time he splinters a volcano! |

Denzel Washington is great as always but the movie repeatedly insults our intelligence by making things painfully obvious and simple. Monster's Ball - One word describes what this movie is about. Fate. I'm a huge fan of Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade, Pushing Tin, Bandits) and Halle Berry (Bulworth, X-Men, Swordfish). The story is really hard to describe. Here is my one sentence description. Thorton, a correctional officer executes Halle's husband then proceeds to fall in love with Halle (he’s a racist white and she's black) after the two of them lose their sons. Wow ... I left a lot out. I guess a one sentence description is impossible. It’s set in the South and both lose their sons around the same time. Halle's son is struck by a hit and run and Thorton happens to be driving by so he takes them to the hospital. That's how they meet. Halle loses her car, job, son and apartment in that order. Halle gets a job as a waitress at the Diner that Thorton likes to eat and suddenly they're seeing a lot of each other. Thorton starts giving her rides to and from work. After she is evicted from her apartment, she moves in with Thorton and they become lovers. Thorton discovers that he’s in love with the wife of the man he executed and he’s OK with that. The real question is how will Halle react when she finds out that Thorton was her husband’s executioner! |

I thought this was going to be “Living Dead Movie” for a new generation but it was more the same zombie stuff we’ve already seen in movies like Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Day, Day of the Dead Return of the Living Dead. I was disappointed to not see more of the “Red Queen”, the Holographic Projection of little girl who represented the Computer Intelligence. Instead of an oval track like the 1975 original movie, it's a figure 8. The announcer starts describing the rules, but only goes over the basics, then says the rest is too complex for you to understand anyway. The new track had jumps and platforms with tubes and spiral ramp. The costumes the players wore were over the top, beyond what pro-wrestlers wear these days. It came down to good vs evil. I think they spent too much time on the action scenes and not enough time on character development. Chris Klein from American Pie, plays Jonothan, thetop rollerball player. LL Cool J was was great as Alexi. It is rated PG-13. I kept wishing it was Rated-R. They took a clue from the movie Starship Troopers and had uni-sex locker rooms |

Then came crappy movies like The Golden Child, Beverly Hills Cop II, Another 48 Hours and Beverly Hills Cop III. I had lost hope. In the past few years he's made a come-back with movies like The Nutty Professor, Doctor Doolittle and Bowfinger. Eddie Murphy is back and he is funny! Now if only I could start liking Robert De Niro again. And lets not forget, William Shatner who plays himself! Very funny. I loved Shatner in Miss Congeniality. |

Based on a True Story. Mel Gibson in one of the most engaging movies about Vietnam I have ever seen. He plays Lt. Colonel Moore who must lead his men into what he believes will be a slaghter comparible to Custer's last stand. But he is a soldier and he has his orders. Unfortunately, most of the soldiers are inexperienced soldiers. Using helicopters to shuttle soldiers into battle, they touch down on landing zone code-named X-Ray, not knowing the strength of their enemy. What they don't know is that thousands of soldiers are hiding out in caves. It's not long before they outnumbered and surrounded. Directing their movements is a great Vietnamese General who battle strategies nearly work to overcome the soldiers with each wave. As the days pass, the wives at home recieve telegrams that their husbands have been killed in battle. Great character development! The fight scenes are amazing. Very moving at times. It made me cry. |

Ashley Judd is supreme in this comedy about relationships. There are many funny comparisions comparing men to wild animals. Women will want to see this thanks to Hugh Jackman. |

Hayao Miyazaki is also responsible for amazing works of art in anime like My Neighbor Totoro, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Winds and Princess Mononoke. Spirited Away was filled with amazing characters and a wonderful story line. Magic. |
